I would say I'm 99% positive that is tail biting. I would put him in a smallish (~1 gallon) bowl for a week to 10 days with a heater and 1tsp aquarium salt and do every other day FULL water changes and see if he starts to heal. Also start thinking about what could be causing it.. stress, boredom, illness.

he's in his 2.6g tank with heater, filter and nice deco. i do regular water changes, he has salt in there, he has fully recovered from his ich and i feed him twice a day like the others too. wouldnt moving him increase stress?

he's in the living room so im always around. cant really be boredom. he doesnt seem stressed at all. his color is vibrant, he says hello, eats, steady breathing etc etc he was on meds for finrot caus it started off as finrot but now it looks like this and its getting worse and worse. no signs of healing. im so sad bout his lovely tail...
