Best thing for feeding?

What is the best thing to feed a betta? Obviously some variation is good but what is a good thing to feed him so that he gets what he needs?

(also does anyone in the UK know where they sell Betta Pellets or do I need to go online?)

You can feed them freeze-dried bloodworms and freeze-dried brine shrimp as a treat and have a stable food of pellets. Make sure not to feed them too much, their stomachs are the size of their eye.

If at all possible try to stay away from freeze dried as much as possible... its a good treat but really has no nutritional value.

Pellets should be your base feeding (and you can use several different brands) then the best stuff is frozen or live foods. You can even make your own homemade food to feed them.

If you use freeze dried, make sure it's rehydrated to prevent digestive problems.

There's a thread, somewhere on here, that gave a recipe on how to make it. i think it was OldFishlady ?
Try searching up "Homemade fish food!" or something along the lines of that. Pretty recent, only a few days.

So far I've been giving him frozen blood worm (I've only had him since Thursday; and yesterday was the first real day he was really interested in feeding) - I just want to get him settled in and eating properly and then I'll vary his diet. I've ordered some betta pellets so I'll give them a go when they arrive.

Don't worry if he doesn't eat the food for a couple days, it can take a couple days for them to get comfortable enough to eat.
