help!

I don't know what it is but he just started being lethargic, not moving much. So I did a complete water change, put in the aqua safe, and the aquarium salt. He still didn't move much then all of a sudden he started freaking out, jumping out of the water, sinking to the bottom, floating on his side.

The tank is 2 gallons the temp is 78-79 degrees. I put in 1 tablespoon of salt. I honestly don't have a test strip to find out levels. Any ideas or questions would help, I moved him to a small hospital tank to see if he changes. Also he lets me touch him no problem with pretty much anything and wont swim away fast like he used to. He seems to be a little bit more active in the hospital.

Well he seemed to perk up in the hospital, so I did another full water change thuroughly cleaned everything. Put water back in, put the aquasafe in and only half the amount of salt. I let it sit longer then I did before, he seems to be doing fine. I'm keeping an eye on him though just to be sure.

That sounds like a lot of salt the first time. Hope he's doing better.

It may be that he was having a reaction to the salt.

I seemed to be doing fine until I put the salt in, maybe I'm not supposed to give them salt in an unfiltered tank or maybe I put the wrong salt in there, or maybe this is a sign I'm not meant to own fish anymore.

it was because of the salt, he also died from the salt. The problem was the directions are pretty much jumbled together and TEASPOON looks like TABLESPOON when it's that close together.

The directions say 1 tablespoon per 5 gallons and 1/2 teaspoon for 1 gallon. I guess I didn't read too carefully and I'm so angry at myself for killing him.

It was a mistakke that any of us could have made. Don't be so hard on yourself. He had a good home with lots of love.
