Bubbles Died, 3/15/10

My Betta fish, Bubbles, died today, March 15th. I went out to the fish store and bought him some Betta Medication. I followed the directions to put 18 drops of this medication in the water. Yesterday, I had noticed the ends of his fins we turning red and 'rotting off'. His belly also was turning yellow. I have had him for as little as two weeks. I had only changed his water twice, and fed him twice every day, but not too much each time. What did I do wrong? Someone, please help. I am really sad. :(

Hello and welcome to the forum. I'm so sorry about Bubbles! It probably wasn't anything you did wrong. He may have been sick when you got him.

that is very true, he was probably sick when you got him. sounds like youve done everything right, the only thing i do different, is i feed mine once a day. dont give up. give it another shot. once your done mourning bubbles, go find yourself a new beta

Sorry about Bubbles....a few question...

How big was the tank, filtered or not, gravel, decoration and what kind of medication? Water temp and did you have a heater?
City water? if so, did you use dechlorinater and any other additives used besides the medication drops....

To understand...you added medication because his fins had turned red and rotting and his belly turned yellow or did this happen after you added the medication....

You had him for 2 weeks and made 2 water changes,,,how much water did you change with the water changes?

Lets see if we can figure out what went wrong so you will be more successful with your next Betta.....

RIP Bubbles.

But yeah, he may have already been sick to start off with if he turned that bad so quickly.
