Thumbs down It was supposed to be good news...

I'm not having the best of days today. I've been running around trying to do some last minute things before I leave on Wednesday, only to realize I forgot my things at home. Luck is just not with me today, it seems.

Anyway, I did mangage to get some money from my large cookie tin of change, so I went to Big Al's to see if that butterfly VT I wanted was still there, and he wasn't. Can't blame whoever got him-he was a real stunner. I did get a butterfly HM that I was eying though. He's very cute. He was a minty colour, but brightened up to a turquiose when I put him in the tank. His dorsal fin was huge! Like a sail. He was checking the area and ate a bloodworm, so things seemed well.

Well, I go downstairs to make dinner. Couldn't have been more than 10 minutes that I was gone. I come back up to find him on Corona's side, his fins shredded! GRRRR! I have no idea how he got over, either. There were no spots! I'm a little upset at Corona, though i know it's not really his fault.

But anyway-I scooped the male and put him on his own side, and adjusted the divider to make sure it was okay. He's not doing well, though. He's lying at the bottom breathing heavily. I hope he makes it...

Please keep your fingers crossed for him.

Awwww, I'm sorry! Maybe he's acting the way he is because he's in shock over the fight. I hope he'll be ok!

I hope he makes it. Is there any way he jumped over the divider?

He's okay! I woke up this morning and he was swimming around normally. Ate two pellets too! Shame about his fins, though...

I don't think he could have jumped over, I have the dividers higher than the water line for that reason. But he stayed on his side like a good boy this time.

Weirdest thing just happened! Sorry for the double post, I couldn't edit my post for some reason...

Anyway, I put my new boy between Roald Dahl and Corona. Roald Dahl is my sweetest betta. He's been attacked twice (by Renard and Gloria ) and didn't put up a fight. He NEVER flares at anything, even other fish...until today! He's flaring for my new boy. I'm shocked! I guess he was waiting for a betta that looked more like him.

I'm glad he's doing good. Do you have a hood? I've heard of bettas jumping several inches out of the water and over a divider (or the side of the tank). Thats the only way I think he could have gotten over there unless he was able to get under the divider somehow? We'll probably never know.
