What are your goals for the breeding? What set ups do you have for the fry? How will you deal with deformities and undesirable fish? What will you do if you can't find homes for the fish?

All these questions should be answered before you get into breeding. As far as what color to breed the male with depends on his genetic background and what you are looking for in the spawn.

Breeding isn't as easy as it may seem. For this reason, we recommend that a lot of research be done before attempting breeding.

I agree with dramaqueen. Make sure you research like crazy because it's definitely not easy. The male could kill the female or the female could kill the male. You could also end up with hundreds of babies that you have to find room for and should find homes for before you breed them. We have wonderful breeders here who love helping people, so please ask any questions you have and I'm sure they'll be more than happy to help you. :)

I'm glad to hear that you are waiting for a couple of months and doing your research. :)
