Exclamation Leave him, or Take him?

I have a bit of a conundrum,

I'm going on vacation for a week, and there won't be anyone to take care of Freedy while I'm gone.

I can either a) leave him for a week without food or

b) take him with me, for the two hour ride there and back, along with the stress of tearing down his tank and setting it back up.

Would it be better to not feed him for a week, or feed him but have him endure four hours in the car being jostled around?

I'd feel nervous leaving him here without food, but I also don't want to stress him out and kill him.

I would personally leave him for a week without food. Feed him before you leave, and have a NICE water change the day before (or of, depending when you leave) you leave. The moment you come back, feed him, and do another water change! But I've never actually done it before, this is all based on what I've read, and probably what I'll do if this ever comes.

I had a friend who took her betta and mine on a 2 hour trip home and they did fine. They were a little pale after the car trip but they were fine. You could leave the tank and just get a gallon temporary container for him to stay in while he's with you on vacation. If you decide to leave him home, he'll be fine without being fed for a week. Hard to do, I know but it CAN be done.

i personally would be more afraid of the car trip, than to leave him. he will probably be okay if you leave him. i think the trip is more stressfull, and dangerous. but thats just me :D

Okay.... I feel like I'm in a no-win situation nerve-wise. :E

I think I'll leave him. He's really high-strung... poor thing.

I left mine, six of them, for 2 weeks but they were fed every other day, but it was still nerve wracking to leave my kids. lol

Haha!!! I'll bet. I've settled down but when I first got Freeders I was so scared I checked on him like every ten minutes to make sure he was okay. :P

Is there any way someone could do a pwc while your gone? Thats what I would be mainly worried about. I don't think your tank is cycled right?

I've left mine for two weeks and they did fine. Mine aren't being fed right now while I'm on spring break but I know they'll be alright.

No. :< I'm afraid there's really absolutely no one that can do it if I leave him behind. I'm planning on doing a 50%-60% water change before I leave, and I've been feeding him every day to fatten him up for the week-long fast. :P
