New 55g- Split 5 ways!! PICS

So, as some of you might know, I bought a 55g tank a few months ago for $30.00!! But that was the cheap part. I learned a big lesson setting up a tank is NOT cheap. But anyways, I set up my 55g 5 ways. One big section for my community tank (that my 20 gallon long fish inhabited) and 4 smaller ones for one betta each. The theme for the 4 smaller sections is seasons (I think it was Jupiter I have to thank for that idea) Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter.

Anyways here are a few pics. not the greatest cus my camera wasn't working so I took them with my phone. :(

right now the spring section is boring and you can't see the pretty jade gravel i have really well so I am not posting that. Of course I need backgrounds for each section and a proper hood, but for now I think it looks beautiful. :) Oh and here is a pic of how that area looked before:



My friend is bringing home a blue and red betta for me at the end of her semester, red one is going to go in autumn and blue in summer of course. And have names picked out for them too! Thorn, is the red, (from Chris. Paolini's Inheritance cycle) and Nereus (the blue) from greek mythology who is a son of the sea.

Nice! Do you mind me asking how much it cost roughly? I was thinking of doing something similar but I never can guess how much things will cost.

I got the tank for 30 bucks (lucky find!)

I had to buy the dividers cus the ones I made I just couldn't get to stand up straight. ($58- yikes!)

I had all the stuff from the big section with the black sand already. (free)

I needed the substrate for all four sections- (around $45 at the most from Michaels) And If I want to make the water level higher, I need more to hold up the dividers on the bottom, cus if there wasn't any substrate in there, then they wouldn't stay hooked on.

A hood would cost almost 90 bucks and a filter that would fit a 55 would be I think between 30-40 dollars.

The tree cost $11.00

the two decorations in total would be around 30 at the most with shipping costs (and I would get some backgrounds from the place I'd get the sand archway).

I can't think of anything else, but Thankfully I am able to sell a few big Items to offset some of the cost.

looks cool! How does the Betta on the other end get filtration though? Will enough water flow through all three dividers?

wow, that is pretty expensive. Thank you for the breakdown. I always seem to get myself in the middle of something without thinking of all of the little expenses that really add up. Like substrate - I totally wouldn't have considered that an expense, you know? Then next thing I know, I've spent $50.

I think i'll have to stick with no more than a 20 long.

craigslist is the way to go for looking for cheap items, when i had my hermit crabs, i found a 55 gallon tank for $40!
