Tail split?

So this morning I saw that some of Cade's tail is missing or apart. I just want to confirm that this is just a split and not tailbiting. I've never had any fin problems before with any of my bettas so I don't really know.
I put salt in his tank for it so hopefully that should help.

I believe that's a tear...looks just like my VT's "split." Great lookin' guy...he's healthy, he'll heal in a matter of days. My guy's "split" was clear to the base of the fin and just 3 days later it's healed half way to the end already! Plastic plants COULD be the culprit...that's what got mine.

I agree, looks more like a split/tear....have you done the pantyhose test on your plastic plants and/or decoration in the tank? if they snag on pantyhose they will snag a Bettas fins......
Clean water with daily water changes should help heal fairly fast and prevent secondary infection......

He's actually already 3/4th healed! You can barely tell that he had a tear unless you saw it yesterday! And he's resumed his bubblenest making so, it'll be okay. :)
All my plants and decorations are safe. Already did the pantyhose test when I bought them a long time ago.
