Well, this isn't exactly about bettas, but it kinda is.

I was talking to my cousin the other day (on the phone) Yes, the same cousin that has a Frog o sphere. :(

She had two feeder goldfish in a two gallon tank, and she cleaned the tank once a month. She kinda hesitated when I asked her how often she cleaned so I'm assuming it's not even that often.

Well, obviously, her goldies died. I told her she shouldn't get more goldies.. but I don't think she'll listen to me. Then I told her she should put her frogs in the two gallon in stead of getting anything else for it. Then she was like... I should get a BETTA!!!! I told her that bettas need really really clean water and a heater too, so if she wanted to do that, she should get a betta. But her mom won't let her get a heater.

Gah! Either way, some little fish is going to suffer! If she get's a goldie, it will die! If she get's a betta, it will die too, because it'll be too cold.

Sorry, just had to vent!

I hate it when people do that. I mean, I didn't know when I first had my betta, but if I had someone telling me the right things to do to keep them healthy, I'd listen.
I'm not downing your cousin, but she needs to listen to you about how to take care of a fish, whether it be a goldie or a betta... :/

Can you print up some information for her to read or will that make her mad? I had a neighbor that did NOT want to listen to me when I tried to tell her how to take care of her betta. She just said he's not made of gold and can easily be replaced. This from a 70 plus year old woman!

Not to be mean & all but my uncle is on his 3rd. First one, didn't clean the tank for a month! Second, down the drain.(literally) Now hes on his third. ;)

why the hell is she not allowed a heater??????? OMG!
the TV uses more electricity in a minute than a heater per day!!!

sorry to hear that another fish or two will be going down the drain or the toilet.

just keep trying to talk them out of it because it's becoming obvious that they don't really want to take care of a fish. a lot of people like the looks of a pretty fish and when that fish dies from neglect, it's "oh well, i'll just get another one"
