At least to me it is. My red Betta Reefer has some splotches all over him, where it looks like his color is just faded out but it doesn't look normal to me. He is eating and acting 100% normal but I just noticed all this.

He is in a 2.5gallon. No Filter. 100% water changes twice weekly. Temp is 72degrees.Always put water conditioner in.


Anyone know what could be wrong and how I could fix this?

Could you take a picture of him? What do you mean by splotches? Is it fuzzy or cottony looking?

I cant at the moment I can try tomorrow but all I have is my phone so it wont be good. And its really neither it literally looks like he is losing color in certain areas of his body and I cant get a good look but theres like a white splotch bump like think on his head.

I got a better look today and the splotches look like a slime film almost.

Any Ideas?

I just changed his water again today.

I have a red veiltail, and he loses color under his chin when he needs his water changed, or just isn't feeling well in general. I change his water and drop a few drops (~5) of Bettafix in his tank when that happens and he's good to go. The only real issue I've had of late is with my conditioner basically going bad (from what I can tell), so he's been a bit off-color and he bit off a portion of his tail because of it (I think).

He gains his color back, but he goes a silver-gray there, and he gets spots nearby. Once he's happy, his color comes back within hours. It's a great water/health indicator, I find.

Try raising the temp first of all. Betta tanks should be a minimum of 76*. Get some sort of picture or try to find a picture on the net that resembles it. Start doing daily water changes so he has nice clean water to be healthy.
