Red dots on the edges of fins?

Both of my bettas have these red dots on the edges of their fins. My crowntail has it a little bit, but my halfmoon has it particularly bad. They live in a ten gallon tank with 4 live plants and I change the water twice a week, since I don't have a filter yet. I use the top fin betta water conditioner to condition the water. I think what they have is fin rot, but I want to make sure. If it is fin rot, how do I cure it?

So sorry to hear that. Were the fins fraying and gunky? Have they been like that for a while? It doesn't sound like the classic case of fin rot.

Do you have a good water test kit? If not, can you bring the water to a good lfs to test it?

I hope you can save the crowntail.

I will never use Top Fin again, honestly. I changed my water because I thought my Armand had fin rot - only to realize that it had gone bad in the container, basically. There were little things floating in it (including glitter - I haven't owned/used anything glittery in YEARS), and what looked like clear sand (but was actually crystalized conditioner) at the bottom... Plus it just SMELLED horrible - like melting plastic or urine. I bought this bottle earlier this month, so it wasn't a case of me not using it in time (I have well water, so I use about 1/2 what's recommended). I don't know if that's what caused Armand's back fin to come off (perhaps a chemical issue irritated his tail, so he bit it off), but never again. I'd watch out for that in your Top Fin.
