I suppose I should mention this for those reading.

If you have apple snails or catfish in your tank, Don't pour the salt down over top of them where they are forced to walk in it.
Just go off away's from them and then pour it in, They won't walk in it until it's dissolved.

One time when I accidentally poured it in over one of my applesnails, Poor little guy kept raising up on his front as if walking on hot coals, I swear I could almost hear him cry out each time,
I reached in and moved him off aways from it..

just thought I should clear that up...

as i just was putting salt in with the apple sails! perfect timing! my male betta is playing in the bubbles as it dissolves haha, the girls could care less lol SPOILED

i am confused again... if the salt does not evaporate.... does that mean i NEVER have to put it in the habitat again? Did i waste $7.99 lol

Lol, no. When you do a water change, let's say you're doing 50% water change. You've just taken out half of the salt manually. So you put in enough for 50% of the tank. Make more sense?

And when it evaporates, salt doesn't evaporate. Like, when you see your water level go down by 2 inches, no need to replace.
