Is this bad?

Hello All,

I have well water, which is high in iron and sulfur and is quite yellow in color... Is it ok to keep my beta in water that has been run through a reverse osmosis machine?

I've been told some pet stores use reverse osmosis in it, but I'm not sure if it's seen negatively or positively.

If R/O stands for reverse osmosis then it will be fine. I've heard of R/O machines before but I never knew what they stood for.

You just have to make sure the water is soft enough for your fish. IMO a pH of anywhere from 6.5-7.5(ish) is just fine.

R/O water is fine to use for fish, you may need to add the mineral/electrolyte back for fish/plant health, SeaChem has a good one called "equilibrium" that doesn't cost much...
Have you ever tried to use your water and do you have the level for the iron an sulfur...you may just need to add carbon and filter the water yourself, just change the carbon out every 2 weeks.
You can keep water filtered all the time just for the fishes weekly water changes too with an extra container with a filter and carbon..
