Pop-eye

My poor betta Princess Peach (yes he's a male) got pop-eye when I left him in the care of a friend. I've bought a small tank from Wal-Mart with a filter left the carbon out and am putting a small bit of the fungus dissolving medication in. Is that enough. I feel really terrible that he had to suffer cause I made a really poor choice in character.

Does the medication say that it does treat pop eye? Sorry, I'm terrible with knowing if a disease is a fungus or not.

I also don't use medications often, but stay strict to the instructions on the medications.

If it allows you to, do water changes as often as you can. IMO, whenever a betta looks sick,the first way to go is: Water changes daily, and appropriate amount of aquarium salt.

popeye is caused by two things, bad maintenance and I think it's bacteria behind the eye, medication does help and from what I have found out, water changes will usually do the trick as well.

Like if you do just full water changes then it could heal on it's own, medicine I believe will help the process, but like he said above stay strict on the medicating and water changes.

Well he's still very active its just his eye is all clouded over now but I think the filter is helping Im gonna have it the water changed Saturday I dont want to stress him he hates being moved.

then thats the medication to use for pop eye, I think I got lucky and mine didn't cloud over, he just looked funny...poor guy.

His eye is popped all the way I think, but he doesn't even seem to notice he's swimming around like nothings wrong

I think pop-eye is one of those things that doesn't affect their over all health. But it should definitely be treated or taken care of real, real well. Have you started medicating?

Yes I have and its still clouded over I really hope he doesnt loose his eye I feel terrible about it.
