Well some people fast their bettas so they can have a day or so to clean out their systems. I go home every weekend from my dorm, so mine are fasted from Friday afternoon to Monday morning, and they do fine. They've gone 2 weeks without food before when I was out for Spring Break, then I was sick the next week and stayed home. If you feed a lot during the week, I would recommend fasting, but if you feed lightly, then don't worry about it unless he starts getting bloated. If you feed your fish too much in one sitting, it can cause swim bladder disorder (SDB) it's not deadly or anything but it sure makes him swim strangely. Just keep in mind that a betta's stomach is the same size as his eyeball, and feed accordingly. He doesn't look bloated in your new photos to me! I think he looks fine and healthy. I have one of mine in a 2.5 gallon with no filter, and I change it twice a week, so it's fine. But every 2 days is fine as well! Whatever works for you! And congrats on your new little buddy, sorry for the novel I just wrote, and welcome to the forum!

I personally don't see a problem with it.

Obviously, the fish were fine. They are just built to be able to with stand that.

I don't recommend it to just anybody, but it's an OK thing to do every once and a while.

I fast mine once a week and sometimes only get to feeding them once a day.

Two pellets twice a day is not that much.

Well I had to go home for spring break so that wasn't my fault, and then I got sick, sooo that wasn't really my fault either. I feed mine 6 pellets a day, 2 in the morning, 2 in the afternoon, and 2 in the evening, so it wasn't like they were starved for food either. It's not like I just said, "Hey i'm not going to feed them for 2 weeks"

Sometimes you've got to do what you've got to do. I left mine for 2 weeks but mine were fed every other day and not on the weekends and they were fine.

Yeah, mine went a week without food, I fed them Monday then they went another week without it, and they were fine. It wasn't the food I was worried about, it was the water quality!
