Very new..

Hi everyone :D
I literally just got my first betta fish yesterday, and I'm so excited. I've always loved fish and marine life altogether, but unfortunately I don't know much about keeping this guy as a pet haha..
I tried feeding him a few little pellets last night, but he wouldn't eat them so I scooped them out after an hour or so. Then I tried feeding him again today a couple times, and still he hasn't eaten. I really hope this is normal behavior.

Anyway lol here he is x3.






Oh yeah and I haven't named him yet, but I kind of thought about Dewy as a name...any suggestions are appreciated xP.

Wow he is very beautiful. You should name him after a flower (he reminds me of a flower lol). A suggestion would be Tiger lilly :)

He's so pretty! Almost looks like a dalmation...

Don't worry about him not eating for the first few days, that's normal. He's still adjusting to his new home.

Just one thing...you should get a heater for him, unless your room is constantly between 75-80 F. Bettas need warm water.

Tiger lily does sound like a nice name, but it reminds me of a girl lol. Like the female Indian from Peter Pan who's name is Tiger Lily. But I really do like that name a lot.

Would it be bad to get a female betta to be with him in there? I know you cant put two males together, but I don't really want to breed them...I just feel bad that he's all alone in there haha.

I wouldn't put a female in there with him, especially in that small of a bowl. I know one member on the forum has a male and female together, but they are really laid back and he has them in a 10g tank with tons of plants and hidey-holes for them to establish territories. He's a really experienced betta keeper as well. Trust me, he'll be fine by himself :)

Well that makes sense, thank you nochoramet. I really wish I had enough money to spoil him more, but over time I'm sure I can save up and add to it.

You're very welcome! I was the same way when I got my first 2, I only had enough to get them both 1 gallon kritter keepers, and they were fine but I felt bad for them so I saved up and now I have 4 bettas, 3 in a divided 10g and 1 in a 2.5g lol. They are VERY addicting!

You could name him Lilium (latin for lily) or Tigre. :P

He's pretty much a twin of my Wembley with the dalmation blue/green combo but Wembaz is more prominently green. I was gonna name him Fern.
