Whats happening to my betta fish?
It keeps hanging at the bottom of the tank.
and i need to encourage him to eat his food and when he eats it he just floats to the bottom.
lower the water level so it is easier to for him to get to the top.
What size is your tank? Is it cycled? Whats the temp? When was the last water change? How old is the fish (roughly)? We need to know the details so we can help better.
its 5 gallons. i dont think its cycled because it doesnt have a filter...
the temp is 66 deg! it droped alot in the past week. i dont know why or how! thanks for asking or i might not have known it! the fish is roughly 2 years old. i think hes freezing! so ill go to petsmart to get a heater. the temp was always around 76 deg so i never wnted to get one but now i see whats happening.
you definitly need a heater. Even if your house keeps the tank at 76 during the day unless you are able to document that the temp does not fluctuate during the night you need a heater. IMO betta tanks should be closer to 80* anyways.
They are enjoying the heater alot now slash is at a nice 78 degrees and he likes hanging around the heater and SSU sunny side up is at a nice 80 degrees now! It was deffinantly worth the 26 dollars i raised for something they really needed
