Yes I have. It is safe as long as the glue sticks aren't colored.

Hot glue does NOT hold well with water! I spent an hour working on a tunnel for my Betta using rocks and hot glue, but the water totally destroyed it.

I was wondering this same thing. I'm having trouble finding some playful things my betta would like to swim through and was planning on crafting my own. Hot glue can get messy though. :P
