Kinda Clueless, but help me solve this plz

I'm not a huge betta breeder, actually never tried it lol...

However I do have a male and female...

He's a nice blue-purple looking color. She's plain lol.

Anyways I stuck em together in a 10 gal tank I have extra, that has been running and cycled and all that fun stuff for awhile now.

He is chasing her around, NOT NIPPING...Flares up gills ... but just gets kinda close, and she'll dart away.

She on the other hand has vertical lines now... color is changing from bright red tails to black to all sorts of colors... while maintaining the vertical strips...

Now are they mating or is he attacking her lol

The tank has TONS of hiding places so he loses her and will go looking after a few mins. Finds her and it is on again. I have it with 5+ fake plants, java moss, several building decor's with places for hiding.

What thoughts do you all have. I'm trying to find my camera to get ya some pics, i'm loving her colors.

So i separated them last night, I didn't want to wake up and have her dead...

The portion he is in, it appears he made a bubble nest... lots of bubbles on the surface...

She's still has her gorgeous colors... dorsal fin is a strong teal, rest of the fins a deep red. body is almost black with white around the black vertical lines.

Sounds like she's ready. Oh and leaving them over night with the lights off is fine. I get most of my spawns in the early morning that way.

What are you going to feed the fry? I reccomend adding live plants and then feeding BBS (baby brine shrimp). Fry start eating when they start swimming so I start my hatchery as soon as the eggs hatch.

I have a tank i keep to grow live plants, java moss, java ferns, and lots more...

the beta tank already has java moss in it, but I plan on adding more.

I'll leave them together tonight to see how it goes.
