Exclamation How long???

I just got a new 3.5 gal tank for my betta, it doesn't have a heater yet and it was filled up yesterday with rather cool water. My fish is not in the new tank yet due to water temp. It has been over 24 hours and i'm just wondering how long I should wait until it is safe to put him in it without the water being too cold. I am going to buy a heater, but right now he is in a small bowl and he doesn't look like he's thriving well in it so I would like to transfer him asap. So how much longer should the 3 gallon sit for before it is room temp?

P.S I have ordered a heater but it will take up to 2 weeks to come in...

I'd imagine it'd come to room temperature over night, and because you filled it up yesterday it should be fine. Do you have a thermometer in the tank? Monitoring the temperature is important, especially once your heater is in place.

I would say the water temperature is as warm as it's going to get, put him in. Float him in a bag first though so that he gets used to the tank's water temperature.

Cool water won't kill him, but he will be very listless until you get your heater.

If you can, turn the heat up in the room you have your tank in. The warmer the room temperature is the warmer the water will be.

I hope you treated the water, and that you plan on doing frequent water changes while it cycles.

Thanks everyone, I did as you sugested and floated him in a bad, he is doing well and the temp went up alot due to the warm weather we had here today. He absolutly loves it compared to the 2 litre bowl he was in before hand.
