male/female in split tank

ok petrie isnt doing well sharing a tank with stewie. Just wondering if there are any reasons a male & female shouldnt share a split tank. im thinking of putting penelope in with stewie & giving petrie his own tank again.

I dont see why not. Just make sure the girly cant get to his side and vise versa.
(I had a 10 gal with my first female and male split in it and they were fine)

I don't really see a reason, unless one was sick with a contagious illness, or the bettas could somehow get through the divider. The one of them could flare too much, though, and split their fins. Other than that, I can't think of any reasons.

It seems like petrie is running into stuff (maybe the heater) he has a big chunk off his head. He has been kinda flighty since I put him in there . He seemed to get better with it but not looking like it now. I put real plants in his tank yesterday because a week ago he had a gash on his head & also his tail looks torn. penelope seems much younger & more playful so im hoping if I do switch them she will do better.

The plants could have been too sharp and he could have banged himself up a bit on those...

So im wondering if penelope is actually a peetie. How can I tell? she/he was tiny (could be young) I noticed the tale looks bigger. She was labeled as a veil tail female. I put her in with stewie in the divided tank & shes flaring like theres no tomorrow. I should also point out she/he made a bubble nest in her/his prev tank.
