Question Hydor Mini Heater?

http://www.petco.com/product/102429/...0Heater-102429

Has anyone had success with these? I have read that it works perfect, it gets to hot, doesn't get hot enough, etc. I am thinking about using it in a 2 gallon hex... http://www.petco.com/product/109841/...t=FishFC_Tanks I am going to get a glass thermometer very soon, the Petco near me was out of them. I was thinking about putting the thermometer then see the temperature and if I need heat, put one in there. Does that sound like a better idea?

The heater I would recommend for a smaller tank like that is this one:

http://www.walmart.com/ip/Tetra-Subm...-Pets/12177656

I got mine from walmart, my roommate got one very similar to it from petco.

It works perfectly! It's preset to heat the water to 78 degrees and has an internal thermometer that cuts the power off if the temperature goes above or hits 78 degrees and turns the power back on if the internal thermometer detects the water temperature has dropped below 78 degrees. Very simple and dependable product. The one I got was the 50 watt that says for 2-15 gallons. I had it in a smaller 1.5 gallon bowl and it did it's job, then I moved it to a 10 gallon tank and it still heats all of the water perfectly.

I would get the heater regardless. Your temperature may be stable now but as the weather changes the temperature may rise or fall and any fluctuation in temperature could stress out and even kill your fish!

I've got this heater in my 2.5 tank and it works just fine. It's cheaper than most other heaters, and it's easier to hide.

If you have a hang on filter you can stick it in there.

I don't have a hang on filter. But thanks, Hadouken441.

I also have the heater you suggested, brancasterr, actually two of them. And they work great, so I might go with that.

I have that exact same tank! And that exact same heater (the hydor)! It works perfectly for me :) Although I'd probably go with the 50watt just because it seems like it's able to maintain a stable temperature. However, 50watt is a LOT for such a small tank ._. Just hope that automatic shutting off system isn't defective or else you'll have boiled betta D:

I think the mini Hydor is 10 watt, and it keeps my tank at a constant 76-78 now. I acctually unplug it when I go to work during the day and leave it on at night and the temp maintains.

Starbright, is it set up? If so, do you have a picture of it.

s3kshun62, I thought it said 7.5 watt.
