Sand Subtrate

Ok yesturday I got some black Desert Sand to use as subtrate in one of my 10 gallons. I've never used sand as a fish tank subtrate before so I need a little help. I put it in last night around 7ish and the water is still cloudy.
Do I wait for it to settle all the way or will I need to change the water out untill it is clear?

Did you rinse the sand out really well? You've got to rinse the crap out of it...even then it'll be cloudy sometimes. Just do water changes...and they should have some product you can put in to clear it up. Cant think of the name right now though...

o shoot I didnt rinse it lol (I read that I needed to but forgot totally about it) I changed the water out of the fish tank and its still a little cloudy but as clear as Im going to get it for now ;) Heck I might like it a little murky looking lol

there is this stuff called "Aqua clear" or something along those lines. You can get those at walmart...that should help it out.

Its cleared up now and the sand looks great in there ^.^

Thats good to hear :) Be careful when using a gravel vac...stay at least a inch above and just maked circular swirls. You'll still get some sand but thats ok. Get some pics for us!

That looks great! Black sand? I always like that that color because it brings out the brightness of my Sushi
