What do you think happened?

My pretty mg crowntail female has been sick for almost two weeks, just acting off she would not swim around as rapidly as before, then for the past few days just floated at the top of the tank, as of yesterday she stopped eating. Last night when I got home from work she was sitting on the bottom. I finally took her out and put her in the hospital tank. She has no marks on her no bloating etc..but she died this morning. What do you think was wrong? Asking so I can fix it before losing anymore.

My amonia is below .25, nitrate and nitrite are almost 0 ph is 7.6
But...3 weeks ago I had a weird nitrite spike. It went very high. Fish people said it was because my tank was at the end of its cycling. Went back down to 0 with daily 25% water changes.
Thanks
