Bubbles or Nesting?

I've had several bettas of the years both male and female. With the males the bubble nest is always apparent, but I have bubbles in my tank that are similar to what my males use to make but the filter keeps them broken apart. Will a female build a bubble nest? I thought it was just the males. Truth is I never noticed this before with my females, and at the same time I can't see how water could have been contaminated. The fish are all fine, but the female betta is becoming quite a bit more aggressive. Could she be in mating mode? I'm planing on seperating her to avoid stressing the fish, but I'm just wondering where the bubbles are coming from and if they'll go away.

Yep! Females can a do build nests!!

I've heard of females also making a nest, and that sometimes filters can make bubbles that may somewhat resemble a nest. The only difference (between my filter and actual nests) is the bubbles seem to be smaller.

Ok cool. I thought I was goin nuts or accidentally knocked some soap in a bucket or something. but the bubbles were small and had that white frothy look to it. Anyway I turned on the air stone and it gone now :o) Thanks for the help
