I have a tail biter

Terence's tail is all ragged and short over night. Should I move him out of the divided tank and give him his own space away from any other bettas? I think he is stressing about seeing Jasper all the time. I got so sad when I saw his tail this morning.

I left alone for two extra weeks and they both got over it. Including my tailbiter. See how waiting turns out for you, although it WILL be painful for you.

If you don't want to wait, then taking him out would be best.

My Armand is an only child and he tail bites, so that might not be an option. He gets lonely if I'm not around, but he loves being near me at school (he gives me fish-puppy-eyes to feed him) with just his castle, and in his big tank at home with his pants and such.

If you haven't done so, I'd put up plants and such at the barrier, to give more of a "peekaboo!" effect. It might help him to not see his tankmate all the time.

I've had a couple biters that bit their tails because they could see another betta. Once I removed their tanks away they stopped biting. Just experiment with things and see what happens.

Well, I removed him. He is constantly flaring at his neighbr and wont leave him alone. SO he will now be by himself. He never started biting his tail until he was put in the divided tank.

Yeah that probably did it. I hope he stops now. :)
