my betta is very sick it started with ick and now it just went completely down hill.
i don't know what is wrong with him i have a feeling that he inst going to last much longer.
he has a clamped fin can barly swim lost a lot of color looks like he still has the white dots from the ick
It's a good thing you've returned the pleco. Those aren't necessarily the best tank mates for bettas, and, from what I've gathered, grow to be quite large (and maybe aggressive?).
Anyhow, you're going to want to raise the water temperature to about 80ºF to shorten the parasite's life cycle, therefore forcing it to leave your fish's body sooner, thus making it susceptible to medication. As far as I know, as long as it's in the host you're just playing the waiting game and any treatments will prove to be futile.
So with warmer temperatures, medicinal dosings, and water changes in between, I think your betta should recover. Though it does look pretty tattered in that picture, I wouldn't abandon hope just yet. Also, as a reminder, be sure to clean your tanks, gravel, and all decor thoroughly after your treatment to be sure you've rid everything of ich.
That's about all I know of ich. Someone, please take the mic.
Lol, I only thought it was ich because you said it was. I don't see white spots on him in that picture, though they tend to be quite small and you may have just captured them poorly in that photograph. Do you see white spots on him?
If the number of them is decreasing, they may be falling off. I'd imagine this would be a good time to start another cycle of medication to kill off the ich. Just worries me that this may be too stressful for your fish.
Do you see any of the white dots, or parasites, on the bottom of the tank? It might help you spot them if you removed the gravel.
I know I'm vague, but I've no experience with ich, personally. Tomorrow, I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will be able to advise you further. I hope your fish gets better.
