Nope! Heh, I remember when I asked that exact question. Two months later and I've read just about every article there is on cycling AND I'm writing a final research paper for my English composition class on fishless cycling. Anyway... cycling is building colonies of beneficial bacteria by converting ammonia (very toxic) to nitrite (toxic) to nitrate (still toxic, but fine in small amounts). It takes 3-6 weeks (maybe more...3 weeks for me so far with no progress and I feel like dumping out the water and throwing my fish in! Patience, patience, I know!) for a tank to completely cycle. This article explains cycling quite well, and the different methods: http://www.tropicalfishkeeping.com/f...m-cycle-38617/
