Exclamation betta's fin rot coming back Urgent Help

ok I have a 10 gallon fish with
1 betta
3 zebra danio
4 Neon Tetras

It seems my betta was heaking and getting better from fin rot now his tail is seeming to be getting it back I dont know why the tank is cycles I do have a 1.5 gallon tank, but I dont have allot of waer conditioner, and the heater doesn't keep the tank warm like the 10 gallon tank heater does. The tank heater keeps the fish tank a 78 degrees F. I just added some Melafix to the whole 10 gallon tank so what do I do now? Partial Water change? here are some pictures please help, and its only messing with his back fin and nothing else is he biting it at night or are the other fish nipping him or is he scrapping it or is it fin rot.

Have the edges of his tail always been colored so darkly, or are they typically blue as the rest of his body is? If they're unnaturally darker then you've got some fin rot going on. You should get your 1.5 gallon tank situated and somehow heated properly so that you're able to quarantine and medicate him. Might not even need medications if you've got aquarium salt on hand; salt baths do wonders for fin rot.

I would not add AQ salt to the 10 gallon. Not all fish can tolerate the salt. Put your betta in the 1.5 gallon, keep the water super clean (don't use any gravel). I have 25w submersible heaters that i use in my 1.5 gallon hospital tanks.

If you get an adjustable heater, you shouldn't have a problem. Those preset ones can be a problem because you can't turn them up or down.

Good luck.

Romad's right. Your neon tetras, especially, are pretty intolerant of salt in their water. Same goes for most fish from the Amazon basin.

Kudos to Romad for some solid advice!

Letting the water sit for 24hours will have the same effect of dechlorinating the water.
