Cool Do real plants create more algae?

As the title says, "Do real plants create more algae?" Sometimes it seems that tanks with all live plants have quite a bit of algae around, but other times plants are said to help eat the algae. So um.....which is true?

I'm trying to have my tank be as "algae-less" as possible. Thanks!

Algae is a natural part of the ecosystem and some algae is a good sign of a healthy tank, you still have to control it or it can over take the tank since it is a closed system.
In planted tank often ferts are used and the more nutrition the better growth of both plants and algae until one find the right mix, the plants have to out compete the algae for the food, lighting is also a factor, wrong lights, old bulbs etc can cause poor plant growth and lots of algae in all the wrong places......

The quest to have an algae-less tank can be a long hard and maybe impossible fight that we may never win and IMO you don't want to...some algae in our little ecosystem is a good thing....

Then you'll want a UV filter. It won't stop all algae, but it'll kill a great deal of it.

I'm sorry, I have no idea what a UV filter is. I guess I can go google it.
