HI I'm both new to this forum and to betta, not really though. Had them when I was a kid and lost them. Now I think I'm ready for it. Two new members to my family, any comments for a newbie like me? Had them yesterday and today one of them is building bubble nest (I did some research and found out bubble nest are built when they are happy, ready to mate and feel safe) is it true?

I know that if they make these bubble nest they are happy,my beta makes them all the time.Im not sure if that would mean they're ready to mate.

Just think of it as normal/instinctive behavior. Your betta is normal whether he makes bubble nests or not. They're just less likely to make bubble nests if the current in your tank is too strong bec it'll get destroyed anyway.

Bettas like hiding places and plants. Maybe you can add some silk plants (not plastic as they can rip the fishes' fins) or real ones. You can also use old mugs/cups so they have hiding places.
