Bettas like something to lay on, especially if it's close to the surface. I guess so they don't have to work too hard to get up and breathe! That's why they seem to like big, leavy plants.

There is a product out on the market called "betta hammock" Its meant to replicate the leaves near the surface of the water that bettas like laying on in the "wild"

The product itself is kinda crappy as it has a wire in the leaf for support and will rust eventually (within weeks) BUT if you look @ it online u may be able to use an old plant suction cup with a different silk leaf and give you betta a home made betta hammock!

Im sure he will love it!
