Smile Wood/rocks - where to find?

This is pretty frustrating! I can't locate suitable wood or rocks for my tank. I'd like some long, branch-type things like this:

And also some rocks like this:

Where would I find that? Does it have to be from a fish store, or can I just find it outside? (fish store decor is CRAZY expensive. ugh.) Thank you!

you can use wood from anywhere. Boil it first for 10-15 mins which will kill anything in it. darker woods might change the colour of the water to a browner shade. As for rocks, dunno about that. Where do you live?

Thanks. I've heard to use only hardwoods though.....like mopani and NOT grapevine (it rots), but all the mopani they sell around here is just big pieces, and not long sticks like that photo.

And I don't live in a place where rocks are easily accessible either. :P I was thinking of checking the garden center to see if they had any, but was worried it wouldn't be the right type.

Lowes, Home Depot...any hardware store will have a good selection of rocks at the tile area of the garden area. If you have a wooded area nearby, keep an eye out for something nice.

if you have a lake, and find driftwood, try it. But make SURE you boil it first. don't bring parasites from the lake to your tank.
