Possibly a stupid question

This sounds wrong but i'll ask it anyway. Can you breed a male and a female betta that are siblings?

you can and most people do in fact its how the halfmoon betta strain came to be though if you inbreed waaaayyyy too mutch it may cause defects and complications (as in any species) including the inability to breed

from what other breeders have told me, it's ok, but only for 3 generations.
