Clams?

My LFS is selling clams and they say some people use them as filtration in their tanks. Was wondering if anybody has used them with a betta? I just helped my sister set up a little bowl and thought maybe this could be interesting in the bowl.

Fresh water clams in a large enough tank can be helpful in filtering the water to a degree, but in a small bowl they may do more harm than good due to their added bioload, water change needs would not change, also, clams will bury themselves in the substrate and you may never see them or at least the ones I had.......

cool thanks! I thought it was a very cool idea to have, since it's totally different. They told me one clam per 20gal so it'd be too much for a standard betta tank anyways. I did think about it for my main tank though.

Get one for your other tank...they are kinda cool.......lol...

I do a lot of wild collection and love to try different critters in my tanks...its fun and so is the research.......IMO....but I love to do research.......lol......
