I live in CT and I'm trying not to think about the one in October.lol I told my mom about it and her and my sister made fun of me. *rolls eyes* They think it's stupid that they have betta shows and clubs.
My Mom thought betta shows were stupid too. Then she went to one. She ended up paying $26 for her FIRST ever betta and all in one day decided she wants to breed him. (That's Sid Vicious "my" multicolor HM). Betta shows may not be as exciting as dog shows or horse shows but they can be just as fun and very educational, especially for aspiring breeders.
If they have an open judging I highly recommend going for it and listening to the judges. You can learn a lot about what goes into form and finnage and color.
I'm going to try my hardest to make it to the CT one. If it's open judging, that will be great, because I honestly have no idea what the standards are! It'll be great to learn.
I think you can look up the standards online. I'm sure the IBC site probably has them somewhere.. I just don't know if you have to be a member to see it or not lol
a123.. you can go to www.ibcbettas.org and look under the chapters for groups near you. If there is an active group then chances are they will have a show. The show season is almost over, I'm actually surprised the CT show is so late. Usually the convention is the last show of the season and they start back up again in the new year.
