Exclamation Cinder has finrot (maybe). Help?

I noticed Cinder's bubblenests kept getting smaller and smaller this past week and I was baffled as to why until just now I noticed he's got a tiny hole in his dorsal fin. I am wondering if he might have poked it through on one of his fake plants, but I dunno... what should I do?

I've never had to all-out treat finrot or torn fins before. Help?

He's otherwise swimming normally and eating okay.... he 'sleeps' a lot more than usual, though in his other silk plant.

If it's a tear from a plant, I just need to know the best remedy to encourage fin growth (and I'll take care of the offending plant; I think I know which one it is).

If it's finrot, I need the best solution quickly!

In the meantime, should I do a 100% water change just to be on the safe side?

When I first see any sign of trouble the first thing I do is place the fish in a small QT (half gallon or less) and start making daily 100% water changes with pre-mixed water that has aquarium salt (1tsp/g) and steeped native oak leave so that it is amber in color, I will make these 100% daily water changes for at least 10 days with this mix.
I then feed a high protein diet that contains fresh garlic and it juices
I will see healing within 2-3 days, re-growth varies depending on amount of damage and why.
When you catch it early and keep the water really clean it will decrease the chance of a secondary infection.

My treatments are based on fish that are kept in tanks that have had regular water change and stable water prams. Note that sudden changes from neglected water to clean water can shock the fish, namely temp, pH and nitrate.

IAL (Indian almond leaf) will work too, I just use oak leaves because they are free and do the same thing...lol

But....you don't have to have either IAL/oak leaves or garlic, the 100% daily water changes will work alone if caught early, the salt is not a must have either but it helps IME.

Hmm! Alright... I have a little bit of salt left to use, but I'll have to buy more whenever I get a chance (and money... *sigh*).

Should I do 100% water change on the tank?

That depends.....in QT or his home tank?
If in his home tank
Filter-50% and non-filtered-100%
regular water changes or not?
If in QT-100% daily water changes
Salt-you can use kosher salt, make sure it is free of the anti-caking agent, Iodine is not harmful when used short term IME and research

Kosher salt?? Really??! I have that! I'll have to see what agents are in it....

And he's in non-filtered home tank, so 100% should do. Thanks oldfishlady! I'll post updates as time goes by.
