Tail-less Rescue!

I've been eyeballing this guy for a couple weeks now.. Finally decided to take him home! Poor thing hasn't got his tail fin! ): Split my 10g giving the new guy 3g and letting Roscoe keep 6. The divider was SUCH a pain to get in I got water everywhere!
Anyway, I named him Toothless after the dragon in "How to Train Your Dragon" because of the whole injured tail thing :P

Poor guy! That's so terrible and he must be in a lot of pain, but I'm sure he's feeling better already in his new house. I hope he makes it alright.

Eesh, poor little guy! I've seen ones I thought had "no tail," but you're right--he's got absolutely nothing. It was nice of you to rescue him, though, and I'm sure he'll enjoy his 3 gallons after having been in a cup for so long!

Yeah. A cup is no place to be, not even temporarily, when you look like this. I wonder what happened to him. I work at my LPS and we NEVER get them in like this. Yeah, the occasional tailbiter but it's hard to help that. He's a very curious boy, tasting every snail he can find.

Poor guy has to wiggle his butt so hard to get anywhere! Though he almost looks like he has better control than Roscoe. He stops swimming a lot quicker and charges at the glass sometimes like a little elephant :P

I hope he makes it. With tail damage that bad its unlikely that it will grow back at all.

If you see him having trouble I would get him into a smaller tank that you can lower the water level of so its not so hard for him to get up for air.

He seems to be maneuvering just as well- if not better than- as Roscoe. No struggling that I can see, he glides very smoothly. Far less wiggling than I saw yesterday. Still a bit more than normal to turn though.

Still loving the snails.. Even after I fed him :P
