2 Females in a 5 Gallon?

I did this very thing before I educated myself. I went to a Petsmart, asked an employee working there if it was okay to put two females together and was told yes it was fine as they don't fight the way males do. Long story short, 24 hours later I had to separate them because one was going after the other one. Thank goodness I was watching them closely.

That taught me a valuable lesson that sadly many petstore employees are not educated when it comes to bettas. And, it was my error not doing my own research first.

Walmart has a sign in their fish area that says females don't fight, are not aggressive and can be put together. I think it is a huge misconception!

actually they are right about them being able to be kept i groups more than 2 3-6 are good

Pet store employees are such idiots sometimes.lol It's a huge misconception that they aren't aggressive, they can be even more aggressive than males. In order to have a thriving female sorority you need a 10G tank or greater with 4-6 males. 6 is better though, it helps spread out the aggression. If you get two, one with fight the other, if you get three, two will fight one and the two left will fight each other.

yea sorry buddy i would say no too because one will guaranteed get beat up or picked on most likely the shy one.

also i would only recommend at least 4 or 6 because you want an even number because you dont want a gang up.

also i recommend only AT THE LEAST A 10 GALLON TANNK FOR THEM

Yeah, I've done some more research now I was just curious. I was not/am not going to start a sorority anyway... I prefer my bettas by themselves.
