Unhappy I feel ike crying!!!

Leonidas got a little pale over the last two days so I made sure he had warm clean water and tried to figure out what was wrong with him. Other than getting pale he ate fine and was pretty active. Last night and today he hid a lot and stayed either at the bottom of his tank or up behind the heater. Today I gave him some clean water and salt. He was looking horrible today and it was breaking my heart. He is my favorite boy and up until now he was one of my healthiest. I was actually hoping to breed him soon because he was so pretty and healthy. Well, he just dies a few minutes ago. I could tell he didn't have much longer and I did not know what else to do. I don't eve know what he was sick from. :( I am just soooo sad. He was an awesome fish and I loved his personality. Right now I am doing a 100% water change in the divided tank hoping the other two do not get whatever it was and die. I feel like crying but I do not want my hbby thinking I am nuts and saying "it is just a fish". SO I am hiding in my room pretending I am doing stuff. What did I do wrong? I gave them a huge tank with a heater and filter. I kept the water very very clean and I gave them salt when I cleaned the tank.

Should I wait to put another one of my boys in the tank to make sure the others don't get whatever Leon died from???

RIP Leonidas.

My all time fav pic:

I just now told my hubby and he is upset that he died. He said he loved watching him the most. Then our 3 year olf was watching and said "He needs to be fixed". She is too young to understand

I'm soo sorry ): He was such a gorgeous boy. It really does seem like that "wave of death" that sometimes passes through is making it's rounds. Not much can be said comfort wise, except he obviously had a good life with you. I can't say for sure what he died from, so I'd definitely keep an eye on his tankmate.

sorry to hear that, he's absolutely beautiful. Sounds like you did the right things though, keep an eye out on the other two and some day you'll be walking in a fish store and "the one" will let you know he's waiting for that spot. ;)

I'm so sorry about your fishy loss. Sometimes in spite of the best care possible and no obvious signs of disease, we lose them anyway.

Hugs to you.
