Can you all help me with your input on this?

I cannot for the life of me figure out what kind of fish I have. I bought it as a female veiltail but as you can see, the fins are torn and ripped so I bought 'her' as a rescue. The only weird thing, this fish seems to flare at EVERYTHING and I've heard mixed feeling with people thinking its a HMPK... But this fish as a white dot on the bottom that makes me think it's a female.. but a friend told me they had a crowntail that was a baby and it lost it later (turned out to be male). It's had no bubble nest yet, so I'm thoroughly confused.

So... help?

But also, it almost seems like 'she's' full of eggs too... in the front right now...

Definitely looks like a guy to me! So pretty!
I had the same problem with "Tifa" about a month ago. I bought her as a female, and "she" was incredibly aggressive. No egg spot, and I found a bubble nest in "her" tank. Turns out it's a male! After nursing him back to health from that hell we call Wal Mart, his colors brightened and you can definitely tell he's a male HMPK. :)

I think male (if your seeing "eggs" though I would treat him for constipation and see if the "eggs" go away). I don't think he is an HMPK.. for some reason he screams long fin to me.. either VT or HM... but I'm not sure.

Now that I look at it 1fish2fish you may be right.. The tail is an odd shape and the anal fin looks like it should be a lot longer than it is.

Deffinatley male for sure.... idk about the fins... you might just have to wait till his fins heal... he's beautiful tho
