Moving tank - light question

So, I'll be moving my crew home for the summer shortly!

I'm planning what tanks are going where as of right now. I know that my dwarf frogs prefer dark areas, but I don't know where to put Freedy.

Do bettas have a preference for ambient light? I was going to put him next to the windowsill. I realize that's a setup for algae, but algae doesn't bother me much, and I don't think it will hurt him. I was going to put some real plants in his tank for him too, so I thought the windowsill would be better.

Will the tank get direct sun light?? I would be careful of the tank getting too warm during the day - not too mention algae.

If it won't get direct sun then your fish should be fine.

There are low light plants (anubis, crypts, java ferns) that might be ok w/o a light above them. If you don't have a light I would only try the java fern.
