Spade tails come to a point at the end like this -


I don't know if there's such a thing as partial butterfly but he does have some butterfly markings.

Don't get down on him just because he is a VT. He is really pretty and just as deserving of a good home and care as any other betta. i have several VTs and some of them have more personality than my CTs and HMs. For me they are all beautiful.

I was googling "butterfly VT"
but seems that the rear fin is much more accentuated and rounded than mine??

The term butterfly is used in reference to his markings, not his fin type. Sorry for the confusion. I would keep an eye on that black tail trim....
