Cleaning natural rocks and driftwood

I just got back from a weekend at Yosemite and I found the perfect rocks and wood to use in my aquarium but I'm wondering how I should clean these items before I put them in? Here's a picture of what they look like. The rocks were on a hiking trail close to a stream that turned into a waterfall and the driftwood used to be a tree branch of some sort I believe. Any advice is welcome.

You can boil the wood. You might want to do the vinegar test on the rocks to make sure they're okay for the tank. In case you don't know what that is/how to do that just take a drop of vinegar and put it on the rock. If it fizzes, you shouldn't put it in your tank.

The rocks passed the vinegar test, now how do I make sure they are clean?

Rinse in hot water, is what I do. Usually I make the water hot, almost to hot for my hands.

I boil my rocks and wood to make sure any parasites, eggs, contaminants, etc, are killed. Boiling the wood and cooling it alternately will also help it get water-logged if it floats.

Also make sure the wood isn't pine or cedar or anything else resinous.

The rock I would rinse in a 5% bleach solution then rinse thoroughly several times after.

Make sure the wood your using is a hard wood. Scrub it down really well and sand any sharp edges (use the pantyhose test) then boil it.
