Ye olde water change

I have a 2.5 gallon critter keeper for Clampy, is it okay to do 100% water changes every 3 or so days instead of partial water changes?

The tanks not cycled, no filter etc and it's just easier for me to change and clean it all at once.

Also can I continue using aquarium salt forever? I think he prefers it.

Thanks.

I only use aquarium salt short term- 10 days at most and sometime I have done a 10 days on and 5 days off, 10 days on etc....especially when I have wild caught fish that I am doing parasite QT on...that said...long term salt can cause kidney damage in some species and it can also cause resistant pathogen/parasite from over use and use of wrong dosage.
IMO you need to get the salt out with daily water changes and only use for treatment.

I make 100% daily water changes on a lot of my Bettas in 1g and smaller tanks and on a 2.5g I see no reason you can't safely do them as well and you don't have to worry about cycle issues due to tank size and nneded water changes and no filtration......
IMO/E more water changes with large volume the better with this species, especially when it concerns the fins and growth/development

If you have the time...go for it...your Betta will love you for it......

Freshwater fish thrive best in fresh water........

Okay, I will end the aq salt (poor Clamps!)
it did re-grow his fins wonderfully
Good to know about the changes being okay at 100% as opposed to partial as well.
Thank you!
