Betta Charlie is Spitting up his food!

Hello all,

I am feeding -Charlie the same pellets for the last month since I got him, but this week he is spitting up his food! I feed him once in the morning and once at night.

Can anyone shed some light on this new habit?

Thank you!

What brand of pellets are you feeding him?

He should be fed pellets that are high in protein and low in fillers. Omega One Betta Pellets or New Life Spectrum Betta formula, small fish formula, or all purpose formula is recommended. I would upgrade him to those pellets.

Then I would try soaking them in garlic juice. If you can't find garlic juice then just microwave a garlic clove until you see liquid.

Hi Vivian,

Thank you! I feed Charlie Aqueon Betta Food pellets which has 38% Crude Protein. Today I also bought him Nutrafin Max flakes which has Freeze Dried Bloodworms in it. It has 48% Crude Protein in it....

Both my boy and girl do that, my pellets are to big for them so they break it up. I just feed them mostly worms now lol

Aqueon Pellets are actually not good for them. If you look at the ingredients the first ingredient is a filler.

Switch his pellets to Omega One or New Life Spectrum.

Do not feed him flake or freeze dried foods since they lead to bloating and constipation.

Is this food OK?

http://www.petsmart.com/fish/pellets...6-catid-300041

This is what the guy at petsmart handed me and said it would be good, I looked on the back and saw a bunch of protein and figured they were fine.

My betta scarfs them down as fast as I will give them to him, and hasn't had any signs of bloat or anything so I think they are OK

NO, top fin is worse when it comes to fillers than Aqueon.

I posted above which foods you should be feeding your fish

Omega One Betta Buffet Pellets
New Life Spectrum Betta Formula
New Life Spectrum Small Fish Formula
New Life Spectrum All Purpose Formula

It not about how much protein, Its how many fillers are in the pellets.

Betta Charlie is Spitting up his food!

Thank you both!

The pellets are small, but I was thinking maybe they were too big, however he didn't spit them out when I got him first.

So, thank you again Vivian, it will be Omega 1 from here on, as soon as I can get back to the store.

Here's to bubble nests!
