Adding beta's in the future

I am working on upgrading my moms tank to a hundred gallon to give her beloved pleco some more room. When I do this I get her current 50 gallon tank to replace my well planted 20 gal. I was curious about adding a couple betta's when i do this.
My current fish are 5 black mollies, 3 cherry barbs, 3 serpae's, 2 pristella's and 2 neon tetra's. would this become a death tank shortley after creation?

You'd need at least 5 of each tetra type, so they can school. In a fifty gallon tank, if you wanted to have a betta, you'd probably want to go with only one male, or a small sorority of females. http://www.aqadvisor.com/AqAdvisor.php that is a way to approximently measure how many fish you can have.

I wouldn't put barbs or mollies with bettas because they are fin nippers and may bother bettas. Sometimes neon tetras nip fins too.

Drat,
Well thank you for the advice. At least now I won't be torturing a poor betta fish to find out if he is compatible.

I will probably come back and revisit this down the line and build a tank for the betta's primarily.
