Betta sometimes bites off plants and eats them

My Betta, Imugi, occasionally bites off the tips of a plant, chews for a while and I assume eventually swallows.

Is this a sign of stress? Boredom? Or maybe he's really hungry and I am underfeeding him? I usually feed him 2 pellets twice a day, and occasionally 2 bloodworms at end of day instead of pellets.

Any advice or comments appreciated!

...I'm not quite sure, but as long as the plant is not poisonous, it should be fine. It sounds like you're feeding him enough.

It could be that he is picking off a bug or something that has attached to the plant.

Holy Moly! I thought my boy was the only one! Only he doesnt eat them, Im constantly finding healthy bite sized pieces of plant floating around and a slightly shorter plant. Though I have never seen him do it, its the only explanation.

I thought it was boredom when this was happening he was in a tivy bowl and the plant was the only thing in it...
