I Need Your Opinion

Well, petsmart is having a sale until june 20th, and otos and harlequin rasboras are only 1 dollar each, but the neon tetras are still the same price. Once I finish cycling my tank (hopefully before the sale ends) I'm definately going to get either the harlequins or the tetras to be tankmates with my betta and I need to make up my mind. Not counting the price, which one do you think is better and why?

I agree with Allenbetta. None of them are really good. They are fin-nippers. I wouldn't bother getting any.

Harlequin rasboras are fine as tankmates they're actually some of the few fish that are acceptable tank mates. The personality of your betta will affect if you can have tankmates.

Ugh... I really want one or the other, but I don't want to have my betta or those fish hurt. :P Would putting my betta in a clear cup then placing the cup in the aquarium when the fish have been introduced be a good way to gauge how he'd react to them?

I seen this sale as well. If you wanted neon's try Petco they are also running a similar sale and they do have neon's available for $1. I believe there add is 5/5 which I think is when you buy 5 of there fish you get them at a dollar a piece. Which in any case Tetras are best kept in groups the larger the group the better there chance of survival as these are shoaling/schooling fish they tend to do better in groups than just alone.

The size of your tank is the biggest factor IMO/E when it comes to success and tank-mates with the Betta and overall heath of the tank and all livestock.

Well, my tank is ten gallons, and I plan on having five or six harlequins, two otos, and my betta fish.

I'm gonna get a betta from petsmart tomorrow because I fell in love with a purple and white one! <3 He's gorgeous! You're ideal setup sounds wonderful if it's not overstocked! =] (I have no idea! XD)
